The Matunda Fund is our general funding account which supports various areas within the school and orphanage. This could be anything from a donation towards clothing to money for school’s construction and repairs. Perhaps you would even consider donating toward teacher wages? Our teachers are dedicated to the project and work for less than half the government wage. We desperately want to change this. If you have a specific idea in mind for where your donation will go, great! If not, we have a wishlist of items to choose from.
The following are just a few of the wonderful items we have been able to purchase through donations to the Matunda Fund. There are many more which we cannot fit within this page but we will ensure that every donation receives a personal thanks and picture of the recipient or finished product.
If you are interested in donating towards this fund please contact the Project Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Through the generous donation of three Matunda Fund supporters we not only had our Kindergarten class decorated by a fantastic artist with a mural for the children but we also were able to put a ceiling over Class Two and Kindergarten! A very big asante sana to Susan Coupe, and Denise and Graham Clarke from the UK.
Over the years we have received many donations from The Cicely Foundation in the UK. One such donation helped build our new toilet block for the school! Asante sana Cicely!
Alex & Margaret Stevenson from New Zealand visited us and donated the fantastic new shelves we now have in our teachers’ staff room. The shelving provides an organised space for all teaching resources. Asante sana to you both!
A joint asante sana to Karen Langridge in the UK for donating new swim wear and Marisa Mcmillan also from the UK for the fantastic swimming pool! These were both ‘wish list’ donations and have been a non-stop source of fun!
We are proud members of Pack for a Purpose, an initiative that allows travelers like you to make a lasting impact in the community at your travel destination.
